Overview of the Project Proposal Process
The project proposal process includes the following phases:
Propose
Any user who wants to create a project proposal will first have to specify details about the project in Microsoft Project Web Access and then submit the data for approval by a project manager.
Approve
All proposed projects must either be approved or rejected by a person designated to approve proposed projects. This person will receive an e-mail notification directing him to log on to Microsoft Project Web Access to approve or reject the proposed project. Once the project has been approved and submitted to the Microsoft Project Server database, the Microsoft Project Data Service (PDS) tests to see whether the person designated to approve proposed projects has permissions to access the database and, if so, creates a "published" version of the approved project in the Microsoft Project Server database. The project information is then added to the Microsoft Project Web Access view tables.
Note This article assumes a default deployment of Microsoft Project Server on a single computer, and that you have installed Microsoft SQL Server™ 2000 or later. You should carefully review your current configuration and the details of this series of examples if you want to install and create this sample in a distributed environment. For more information on running Microsoft Project Server in a distributed environment, see the article Distributed Deployment article in the Microsoft Project 2002 Resource Kit.
